On the southern shore of Lake Iseo there is a 360-hectare nature reserve: The Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve, a wetland made up of rushes and stretches of water, which can be reached via the main road from Iseo to Provaglio.
A trip to this place is a must, but of course being careful not to scare the animals that live there in complete freedom.
The area is considered to be one of Europe’s most important bird-watching havens, with 17 species of nesting birds such as the Eurasian reed warbler, Great reed warbler, little grebe, little bittern, water rail, common reed bunting, marsh warbler, Savi’s warbler, garganey, spotted crake, cuckoo, sedge warbler, penduline tit, coot, mallard, common moorhen, Cetti’s warbler and other migratory species.
In the Torbiere del Sebino waters you can find pike, catfish, eels, European perch, carp, tench, common bleak, etc.
The remarkable shoreline vegetation is abundant in canes, rushes and common reeds, there are large trees such as poplars and alders and on the stretches of water, beautiful water lilies float.

This is a circular route starting and finishing at the San Pietro in Lamosa Monastery, or, if you prefer, at the Provaglio station. Starting from the Monastery, you descend along a dirt track that lies between the beautiful church and the main road to Iseo and, upon crossing a wooden footbridge that goes under the railway bridge, you pass along the edge of a cultivated field eventually rejoining the track. From here, along an open path through the vegetation, which serves to isolate the Reserve from the noise of traffic, you can catch a first glimpse of the waters.
At the end of this path you reach the Reserve entrance and along the walkways and bridges that cross it, you come close to a nursery where, with the help of signs, you return to the Monastery. The return journey initially takes you alongside some pools, where fishing is allowed, then past some fields and finally through another area with wooden walkways suspended over the water.
Bird watching fans can also find a magnificent vantage point along the path, starting in front of the Iseo sports field.

"In a gated development with secure underground parking we had an excellent stay at this hotel on the edge of Lago d'Iseo. Friendly efficient multi lingual staff. Super swimming pool in the grounds. Breakfast is served in an upstairs room with balcony overlooking the lake. Extensive buffet with hot and cold dishes. Snacks available in the bar during the day. No evening meals but a great variety of restaurants within 5 minutes walk around the lake. Our room was well furnished and clean and had patio doors onto a small terrace and private garden which was wonderful for our dog who was accommodated without charge. Breakfast is included in the overnight pace we stayed for four nights and will be back! Highly recommended."

"Arrived without pre booking, receptionists were very accomodating and helpful. First impression of the hotel from the outside is that of a simple small hotel but as soon as you enter the rooms are very big with large balconies overlooking a picturesque pool with the mountains and lake iseo in the background. Breakfast was very good and the lady serving breakfast was very helpful as well. Parking available. Alot of restaurants in the surrounding area. Excellent stay."
